Claire Halpert

Claire Halpert received a BA in Linguistics from Yale College in May 2007. At Yale, she began playing the carillon her freshman year through the Yale University Guild of Carillonneurs. She served as co-chair of the Yale Guild for two years and was an organizer of the 2006 Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA) annual Congress that was hosted by Yale. In 2007 she played her GCNA Advancement Recital, and currently plays in Cohasset, Mass.

During her time with the Yale Guild of Carillonneurs, Claire has performed in master classes with artists such as Todd Fair, Margo Halsted, Geert d'Hollander, and Eddy Mariën and has visited and performed at carillons across the United States and Western Europe.

When not playing the carillon, Claire can often be found playing piano, baking, speaking Zulu, or looking for ways to expand her African popular music collection. Claire will is currently pursuing a PhD in Linguistics at MIT, focusing on the syntax of African languages.
