Charles Semowich plays the carillon at
Albany City Hall in Albany, New York. He studied carillon at the University of
Michigan, and is president of the Friends of the Albany City Carillon. Mr.
Semowich performed for the inauguration of Governor George
E. Pataki of New York on January 1, 1999.
Mr. Semowich composes for the carillon as well. His "Fantasy for Carillon" has been performed on the Arvella Schuller Carillon at the Crystal Cathedral, and his "Variations on Auld Lang Syne" was published by Fenwich Parva Press. In addition, Mr. Semowich's composition for handbells was the prize winner at the 1987 Regina Bell Ringers Competition.
